The Blood Exchange Reflection

And now comes the time for the post-video reflection. Let’s get started.

So what was good about this video for me? I am proud of how professional it looked. Honestly, it had this sense of formality and structure that made it seem less of an amateur video and closer to a professional video. Combining the awesome camera quality, the tripod, the lighting, and the overall presentation, you have a pretty solidly put-together film. I think overall, professionality was what I was most satisfied with in the end.

My actors were great. Though I think all my actors did a great job, I think the person who stole the show was Anthony, honestly. He was great, I won’t lie. I remember being behind the camera and seeing him yell at Roger with such intensity. He just got so into it, and it really showed in the final product. I enjoyed seeing Carlos pulling out his suave Christian Bale persona during the whole video. He pulled off being a cool dude really well. +10 for the sunglasses. Roger did a pretty good job too, though next time I will have to ask him to speak a bit louder.

This video followed the trend of my last few videos where it evokes a Tarantino feel. I think I’ve gotten pretty good and kinda conveying his style. Therein lies the problem: it’s too much like Tarantino. I’ve been following his lead for a while now, and it’s about time that I stop. Sure, the video looks great and professional. But I need to start exploring some new styles.

Other than that, I think this was a pretty solid video. Expect something different next time :D

New Video!

Announcing my new upcoming feature, The Blood Exchange!

No details on what it’s about yet, but I will say that it will star Carlos Cortes, Roger Lau, and Anthony Lucido. Filming went incredibly smooth, and we took our times to make it as awesome as possible. And I must say, even before editing, this video looks promising.

Here are some screenshots :D

They look pretty good in suits doncha think? Anyway, I’ll be releasing more information and development photos as editing comes along. It shouldn’t be very long before it’s done. Stay tuned!

Surprise! ZOMBIE FILM

Hello friends, once again I am working on a new project. It was originally supposed to be just an English project, but it has spawned into something much more than that. It is now going to be a Theorem 42 production!

Based off the novel World War Z, it is an interview-style zombie action film. Hopefully it'll be good in the end.

Filming took place over the long weekend and in total took about 9 hours. Yeah, it's crazy. There are four survivors, an interviewer, and about seven zombies. SEVEN ZOMBIES. That's a lot for an amateur director like me. Lemme say this outright, it was not an easy experience. I have imported all the footage and am now in the process of editing it all together into one long masterpiece.

(JUST LIEK MY DICKKK)

Julien and Kevin return as actors, and Ryan and Roger are zombie extras. We have a lot of other people in our video too, so look out for them.

I shall post pictures next time!

Critical Thought Reflection

This post will be short, because I don't have much to say.

I mean, what can I say? It was an incredibly simple video. Editing literally took me 3 days total. Hardly any new special effects. Our goal of this video was to make a funny sequel to Coke and Expo Markers. And we accomplished that.

Neither one of the two videos are technically astounding, but they sure are funny. That's the point of these two videos. UNDERFIRE is meant to show off intense special effects and action sequences. Critical Thought was a pointless, stupid, meaningless, hilarious, random video. And I'm proud to have been a part of it.

It was a major improvement from Coke and Expo Markers. The cinematography was definitely an improvement. Acting was a major improvement; this time it wasn't nearly as obvious when someone looked at the camera. Chayan was awesome, coupled with Roger. The angles were pretty basic; only one Dutch angle in the whole video if I recall.

It was funny, and it was fun. Till the next stupid video :D

TRAILER -- Critical Thought

Told you this wouldn't have many updates:

Critical Thought Trailer

Critical Thought, the next video from Theorem 42! From the looks of the trailer, it seems pretty unpredictable eh?

It'll be up in a few days. Making some light touches :)

Go Theorem 42!

Video, Coming Soon!

What do condoms, corpses, Mah-Jong, and Blue's Clues all have in common?

They're all a part of Theorem 42's new upcoming film!

Starring the newest member, Chayan, Roger, Ryan, Jerry, and me, it is a crazy video that could very well be the sequel to Coke and Expo Markers. They find themselves with amnesia in the morning and can't remember what happened to them the night before. This is definitely a crazy ride.

Here are some photos:

More updates to come, but don't expect many, because this video is gonna come out soon!

Coke and Expo Markers

Coke and Expo Markers, finally released to Youtube after about a month of slacking off.

It turned out pretty good, although there were some notable mistakes in it. Ryan and Roger looked at the camera a few times. My acting wasn't very good. Some of the camera angles were off. And the ending was weak. But all in all, I think it turned out okay. We definitely learned from this one.

Check it out!

Long Weekend

It's Memorial Day weekend. 3 day weekend.

This means that I'll be doing nothing 2 of the days and cramming homework in the last day. Yeah that sounds about right.

Video is about finished. I've lost a lot of my enthusiasm with this video, possibly just because I've seen it quite a few million times. I don't know. I MUST GET IT DONE THOUGH.

All this video tells you is that I had really dry skin for a while. I have very patchy skin. It's really stupid looking. And Ryan and Roger like to look at the camera.

I feel so fat sitting in front of the computer all day doing nothing. But I get quite a bit of enjoyment sitting here. I have friends, games, the internets, and more games. I tend to stay on just because I like to talk to friends. I stayed up till 2 last night talking to my friend yesterday. I appreciate friendship y'know.

I really have nothing to say. I have to learn to keep these posts shorter because otherwise no one will read them. Sooooooo later people.

My Lazy Ass

It's been about 2 weeks since I last posted. It's not that I haven't had anything to say. It's just that I'm lazy.

So.

I had swimming finals. Sum it up in a few sentences: I made it past prelims at 8th in my 100 backstroke. I was really happy. But at finals, I was totally raped, getting last place. Oh well, it was a thrill, so to speak?

The video has been going very slowly. I didn't edit it at all last week because I was being lazy as hell. I figure it should be done now, so I've made my deadline by Friday. I hope it doesn't disappoint too much.

I'm probably gonna film an experimental flick with another one of my friends. No script or anything. Just some experimental stuff I wanna try, for experience. I don't know who, or when, but soon.

That's all that's been happening lately.

OH WAIT. I WENT PAINTBALLING.

I went paintballing with Kristin, Roger, Julien, Eric, and a few other friends. It was absolutely amazing. It was like a more realistic video game, but not as deadly as real war. It was a great experience. I'd do it again, eagerly, anytime, anywhere.

Yeah not much else has happened. I'll have the video up soon enough. Bye bye.

Nothing's Good

I haven't posted in a while because I've had nothing to post about.

Life is life. School is school. The past week has just been a week. I know you don't want to read about my boring life, so I didn't post anything.

Tomorrow I'm filming a video with Roger, Ryan, and Jerry. Henry couldn't come for some reason. It should be quite funny. I'm hoping at least.

My focus this time is to achieve a professional-looking video. Good angles, good acting, good editing, nothing out of place, with fitting music. I don't want it to look so much of an amateurish video. I want solid everything, nothing lacking at all. It'll be an easy edit, so it shouldn't be long for it to come out.

I've decided to just stop editing UNDERFIRE 3. The footage is mediocre, and I don't really want to edit for weeks again. I'm not really up to it. Although don't expect it to be the last time you see us with NERF guns.

That's all for now. Bye.

IT'S A TRAP

So today was the last day of spring break. Woohoo... Well how did it go?

Well, it was awesome! In the morning, I went to swimming. Instead of doing normal swim practice, we decided to do a triathlon workout: swim a mile, run 2.5 miles and do 100 push-ups. This workout was the best, because I finished in less than an hour. I was outta there in no time! Enough time to go change to get ready for...

LUNCH WITH FRIENDS. I met up with Kristin and Roger at the theaters, and then we went to In-N-Out. Then we called up our friend Julien, and we all went to my house to play some Rock Band!! We spent a good 5 hours in total just hanging out. It was pretty awesome. Great last day in my opinion.

So the big question: Was spring break worth it?

Well let's take a look at this. I spent probably a good 15-20 hours playing video games. I saw my friends a few times this week. I filmed a video. I finished homework. I talked to friends. I did a lot of stuff. I think spring break was pretty good this year. I would have like to see my friends a little bit more, but I'm satisfied with what I got. I slept, I relaxed, I chilled. Exactly what you're supposed to do when you're not at school. I give this spring break an 9 out of 10, which means it's an A-. A-'s are good to me!

I hope everyone had a good spring break. Like most of you, I do not want to go back to school. I'm already ready for summer. But, what can you do? Just about 2 more months left. I think we can survive, with a little effort maybe, but together, we will prevail!

Aww waking up at 6 is no fun! Oh woe is me... jk. FUCK, NOT ENGLISH. Ughhhhh I'm soo not ready for tomorrow.

See most of you tomorrow!

Swim Meet!

Today's swim meet owned!

It was with some school I've never really heard of. My events were:
  1. 200 Yard Medley Relay
  2. 50 Yard Freestyle
  3. 200 Yard Freestyle Relay
It's basically what I did last time, but without the IM. So my first relay, we didn't get disqualified!!! Instead, we got first, that's right, FIRST. I was the anchor, or the last person to swim in my group, and I swum 2 laps of freestyle. It was pretty awesome.

Then I went for my 50 yard freestyle. This is my event, this is what I train for, this is why I swim, for this event. I'm being dramatic but this is the event that I excel at. Well I swum, I got 2nd by 0.15 seconds, but I got a new personal record!! 25.90 seconds. To me that's pretty damn fast, and I'm pretty proud of myself.

Finally my 200 yard freestyle relay came. I was first this time. I swum an OK time, nothing extraordinary, but we got first!! I was very very happy again, happy that we won, and happy we didn't get disqualified. We owned.

Well overall my school raped the other school. It was a total shoe-in from the beginning my coach said, but I dunno, I think the other school did pretty well. We were raped last week, so I'm sure that team was thinking the same thing at the time. I'm just happy I got 2 firsts and a new personal record. It was a good meet.

And a bunch of my friends from track came to watch. It totally made my day to see so many of my friends coming to see us swim. Ryan and I went over and hung out there in between our events. Kristin came, Roger came for a bit, and a bunch of our other good friends. We talked for a while, we watched the swimming, it was a good time. They left of course before the last event of the day, and it's a good thing they did because it wasn't till about 6. It was still pretty awesome of my friends to come watch our team swim. Kudos to them.

It was a good day. I think finally I'm beginning to enjoy swim season. My mom was right; I'd like it eventually. Well I have another one Friday, so I'll blog about that one too.

Check in later!!

Another Weekend is Over

Another weekend blows by. Let's take a look at just how things went:

Saturday I started off by going to Japanese school. Boring. Then I headed off to my piano theory test. Boring. Lasted an hour and a half. But I got an A on it, so I'm happy about that. The rest of the day I spent at home editing muzzle flashes and playing games. I got bored so I tried Left 4 Dead out with my friend, but our team sucked, so it wasn't too fun. Day of Defeat, however, was fun. I ended my day talking to Kristin and editing muzzle flashes.

Sunday I woke up coughing. I headed downstairs and immediately started editing. Then I thought I'd be somewhat productive for once, and I started my essay. However, that only lasted for about 15 minutes. I headed back to edit. I got a good chunk more done, but I still have many more to go. At around 12 o'clock, I was forced to start being useful around the house. I unloaded the dishwasher, and broke a bowl in the process. Then I went upstairs and washed the bathroom, which, for me, is the toilet, the floor and the sinks. I spent a good hour in that bathroom. Felt good I suppose for helping out. But I wouldn't do it usually.

Then I headed over to my friend's house with Roger and Ryan and we played Mah-Jong together for about 3 hours. Mah-Jong never ceases to entertain me. Good fun, I won twice.

I got home, and then I started working on my essay. Then I got bored and did math. Math took forever. Calculating anuity and half-lives isn't fun. Got back to my essay for a good hour, and I only got 1 paragraph done. Whatever, I'm just not feeling it.

And now I'm here. Pretty boring if I do say so myself. I'm not up to writing a lot, so I won't. Tomorrow I'll edit a bit, do some more essay, and some other things I gotta do. Nothing very special if you ask me.

An OK Monday

If you know me well enough, you'll know I hate Mondays.

I mean I really fucking hate Mondays.

But really, today wasn't bad. It was raining, so I didn't ride my bike to school, which saved energy. English for once wasn't a bitch to sit through. Usually we do some retarded activity to understand a book better or something. One time we had to compare a dog to racism. But surprisingly, today was okay. We watched some Shrek.

Geography I don't care about. It's just a class I'm in, nothing more. It's so easy and stupid that I won't even bother to give any more details.

Math was okay. It's probably the best class of the day for me, especially now Roger moved into it. He's my buddy.

Science. FUCK SCIENCE. I can't accurately describe how boring that class is. Half the time we take notes, which drag on forever. And the other half we take tests. It's bullshit. But today, even though we took notes, it didn't seem to take forever. In fact, the period passed rather quickly today. It was weird. I felt some funky mojo in that classroom, so I was the first one out that door.

French was the worst period of the day. The teacher is a bitch. I know why she's a bitch, but I can't explain it, so I'm not gonna try. We had to do presentations that we basically had no preparation for. My partner and I even made a joke at the end of the presentation, and she didn't get it. In fact, she made a huge point that it didn't make sense to the entire class. She needs to go crawl back under that rock of hers.

Lunch was okay. I had mah-jong club. MAH-JONG IS FOR THE TRUE ASIANS, YO.

Swimming was boring. Everyday it makes me miss the cross-country season. The XC season was the best. All my friends, fun runs, talking, ditching, etc. Now I'm separated from half my friends, and Ryan and I are just swimming because we're swimming. I feel like a fish out of water. I miss you, cross-country.

The day wasn't bad I guess. I hung out for a while after school with my friend, and I went home. All in all, it was decent, I guess. But damn, it was freezing.

Tuesday better not suck.

Henry Makes a Friend

Henry Makes a Friend

I posted the new video up on Youtube today. Check it out if you have time.

Henry Makes a Friend

I'll say that this video is definitely one of our strangest. My original conception for this video was just Ryan and Henry interacting and talking to each other, creating somewhat of a picture of their relationship to one another. Instead we got this: Henry tries to make a random friend at a bench. It's a very strange concept, I know, but realize this, you probably would have had fun if you had to film something like this. It was really fun to film this one, lots of lolz and roflz and stuff like that. It was a good Sunday.

We made a bunch of "jokes" implemented into the script, like the penetrate thing. We just thought it was funny and related to sex, so we put that in there. We also really pushed for a somewhat homosexual scene between the two, which we came up with. That was a really weird scene. We're pretty gross individuals, but it's okay, we don't care.

This was Roger's first time helping with one of our videos. He didn't do any camera or editing, but he, alongside me, directed and wrote a lot of the lines in the film. He's a funny guy, and he knows what's funny.

Oddly enough, the first bit where Henry scoots closer to Ryan took about 4 tries. One of the original ideas was for Henry to put his arm around Ryan right away, but we thought it would best be saved for later, hence became Ryan's gay action. Also, the resolution of this particular scene is crappier than usual because you could briefly see Roger and my shadows at the bottom of the screen, so I had to make some sacrifices there.

Well a new video will be filmed next week, so I'll keep you posted.

2/5/09

Finished Editing

I finished editing my video earlier, just before the deadline of Friday. Not like it was a hard editing job for me, but still, it deserves quality.

I'm getting kinda pissed at the sounds my camera makes when it's recording. It makes this click-click noise when the tape is running and it's noticeable when you have the volume up. I get upset at it sometimes, but I really like this camera. It's made me over 20 videos for almost 2 years now; it's lasted me a long time. Solid camera, but not without it's flaws.

I realized that my buddy Roger is pretty good at the video production process. He's very relaxed and natural at it. I'd definitely ask him again to help me direct and stuff. And my two partners of course are still my partners. It's our thing after all.

Eh, well I decided to post this before I started exporting the video because it'll take a crapload of time.

More on the video tomorrow.
